Baking Experiment #1

Hello again!

The Baker here with our first baking experiment –
 The Brownie Conundrum.

Aim: To create a more delicious brownie (if it’s possible).
Hypothesis: That Ex’s famous brownie recipe would be made MORE delicious by replacing the ½ cup of cocoa with a full cup of Milo.
Equipment/Procedure: All I can say, is that I replaced the Cocoa with Milo. I’m not sure that Ex wants her famous brownie recipe on the blog just yet. It is good. Really good. OK, her brownies are incredible. I am yet to meet a person who cannot be bribed with these brownies. Sorry, I’m drooling now. I’ll move on...
Results: Pretty blah. The Milo provides a much lighter brownie, which would be more suited to the name beige-y. While it was still chewy and moist, it didn’t have that om nom nom-iness that regular brownies do. The malt flavour was good, just not chocolate-y enough. Although I was forced (at gunpoint, I swear!) to add mini m&ms to the mix, and they did work well with the brownie texture, sadly, they were not enough to keep most of this batch out of the bin.
Conclusion: I will give it another try, perhaps adding the cocoa and then some milo as well to give it a double chocolate hit.

I would usually take photos of my baking experiments, but since I failed to do so I will leave you with this gratuitous shot of some deliciously melty chocolate ice cream that I swear I am not snacking on right now. Cross my heart...

  1. I think you're going to fail no matter what you try.

Let's face it, there's nothing better than my brownies and I think the simple truth of the matter is that they can't be made better than they already because you just can't improve on perfection.

Chewy, fudgy perfection made in a chocoholic's paradise, that is.

Still, it's always good to try new things and commiserating with ice cream is never a bad move.

    Mmmm, ice cream.

    Better, ice cream AND brownies...
